The Virginia Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education has announced its recommendations for Susan Hippen in State House District 21, Gary T. McCollum in State Senate District 7 and Dave Belote in State Senate District 8 in November’s election.

“They are all education-minded and concerned with supporting public education in Virginia Beach and throughout Virginia,” said VBEA President Trenace Riggs. “Our members are hard-working educators who have researched and conducted interviews with the candidates, and these are the candidates we believe can be counted on to put kids first and do what’s best for them, our public schools and our education employees.

“This November, every seat in our legislature will be decided in the general election, and our students and educators still need a lot more friends of education in office,” said VEA President Meg Gruber. “With that in mind, VEA members around the state reached out to candidates over the last few months and, based on analysis of voting records, interviews and assessments of electability, the VEA Fund is now recommending these candidates in November.”

The VEA Fund is supported solely by voluntary contributions from Association members and others. VEA does not contribute dues dollars to support candidates.
