VBEA’s e-ITK newsletter – January 2016

Hello everyone,

I hope you have had a  great holiday and are refreshed and renewed to start the New Year!

I’m starting out this e-ITK with messages from NEA president Lily Eskelsen Garcia and VEA president Meg Gruber, and a request from Meg about ESSA, the Every Student Succeeds Act. She is asking that, with all waivers to No Child Left Behind expiring on Aug. 1, 2016, what changes are most needed. Specifically, what needs to be changed or tweaked in the current teacher evaluation system and why? She wants proposals with rationale as to what needs to be changed in the process.

This is a great opportunity to have meaningful dialogue which could result in some changes. Please reply to me by the end of the week, if possible.

Thank you for all you do for our students and our members to put kids first!
