Reducing the Number of SOL Tests

SOL testing has rewritten the books on teaching, says Trenace Riggs, President of the Virginia Beach Education Association.

“I know teachers have retired earlier than they wanted to because they are like, I can’t do this to my students any longer. I am not doing what I should be doing,” said Riggs.

“Standardized tests cost about $2 billion annually [nationwide]. Wouldn’t it be better to put that money towards something better in education?” concluded Riggs.
