We are pleased to announce the 2014 recipients of our Friend of Education Award; School Board Members Dottie Holtz, Joel McDonald, and Bev Anderson.
Ms. Holtz, Mr. McDonald, and Mrs. Anderson have all demonstrated outstanding service and commitment to the students and teachers of Virginia Beach, not only as members of the Virginia Beach School Board, but also in their years of service as employees of Virginia Beach City Public Schools and by their active membership in the Virginia Beach Education Association prior to being elected to the School Board.
Their efforts on the School Board reflect their understanding of the impact decisions made by the board have on classroom teachers, support staff, and students. They were recognized at the last VBEA Building Representative meeting of the 2013-14 school year, where they also spoke on the importance of supporting candidates endorsed by the VBEA Political Action Committee of Educators (PACE). We are grateful for their service and support.
